FAQ

Q: How are modular homes built?
A: Modular homes are constructed in climate-controlled factories on assembly lines to ensure consistency and quality. And, you know they are well built since they will survive many miles of highway transportation from the factory to the new owner’s lot, in addition to crane placement on the foundation. Everything is plumb and square, and the electric plugs and plumbing pipes are already in place before anything is approved for shipment.

Q: Can I custom-design my modular?
A: Your Dream Home is definitely custom-designed. You can pick from many floor plans and then move this or change that. We then take your ideas to the manufacturer to ensure they are feasible. Additionally, some customers come to us with floor plans that interest them, and we approach our manufacturers to see how they can build that home using modular technology and techniques. Simply talk to us and we’ll guide you through the steps to make Your Dream Home everything you want it to be—from the placement of the television and phone outlets to the design on the ceiling fan blades….

Q: What are the primary benefits of going modular?
A: There are many benefits, but the biggest ones include: quicker move-in time, cost savings, stronger construction, and energy efficiency. With Your Dream Home, Inc., you get expert construction management services to complement the factory’s precision construction—all to ensure you get the house you want where and when you want it.

Q: Are all modular homes inspected?
A: Your home is inspected at the factory to ensure it meets with strict quality standards established by the company. Additional site inspections to meet code requirements in Maryland are also coordinated by Your Dream Home, Inc., just as you would a traditionally constructed home. The modular schedule makes scheduling these inspections for timely turnaround easier, however.

Q: How is it that modular really saves me money?
A: There are several factors contributing to the cost savings. They include: saving thousands on design/architectural services; reduced losses from site vandalism or bad weather; reduced down-time lost to bad weather; economies of scale built into the factory/assembly-line system capitalizing on efficient production systems and volume purchasing of materials for greater savings; reduced overhead for Your Dream Home, Inc. who is managing the construction process for you.

Q: Can you have high-end features in a modular home?
A: Absolutely. Whether you want cathedral ceilings with exposed wood beams or granite countertops or whirlpool tubs, and hardwood floors, you choose the upgrades you prefer. You can have deep porches, various roof pitches, alcoves…and Your Dream Home comes true.

Q: Are there any modular home designs that address accessibility issues?
A: Yes. Just ask us!

Q: How long does it take for Your Dream Home, Inc to build my modular home?
A: Once your home is finalized with the house manufacturer, their lead times generally are 5-8 weeks for the house to be delivered. Once the house is set it takes us 2-3 months to finish the house, depending on the size and options of the house.
